Approach
The design approach goes against the established aesthetic of the outdoors, and feels like a true celebration of the new outdoor culture Black and Brown communities are creating. Subverting traditional representations of the outdoors in favour of an expansive, expressive, and vibrant style. Handwritten typography and illustration evoke a DIY, community-driven aesthetic. This is balanced with a utilitarian type system which brings structure and is evocative of manuals and maps – a nod to the outdoors. A vibrant colour palette give a sense of joy and optimism. These graphic elements are complimented by photography which celebrates the breadth of excellence Black and Brown communities are bringing into outdoors culture. Guidelines for using our logoThere are 2 versions of our logo usage (Lockup and Acronym versions).Lockup version.
Acronym version.
And there are some nuances of their use. Let's take a closer look at them.
Lockup UsageOur logo is flexible and behaves in two ways depending on the application. Lockup 1 shows the logo with the name centred underneath. This is used where the brand needs to be established clearly e.g. brand partnerships. Lockup 2 shows the full name always aligning to the top of the application. This allows more flexibility with layouts but still clearly establishes the brand name e.g. website.

Acronym UsageWe can use the acronym for small scales, where the full name is not legible e.g. Instagram profile picture.

Misuse of the logo Do not stretch or distort the logo, do not use it with an unapproved color, or in a container where there is not enough space for the logo, do not add shadows or other additional effects. Brand colors OUTO uses a well-thought-out palette of corporate colors in its products, which corresponds to our brand values. Below you will find the color palette with the corresponding color codes. ContentPhotography should show vibrancy and joy and feel active. Celebrating the breadth of excellence black and brown communities are bringing into the outdoors.
Treatment + Art DirectionA consistent grade or colour treatment will help images feel more cohesive and professional. We recommend going for film photography or a film emulation. Art Direction should have warm tones and an analogue feel, centering the beauty and aesthetic of the outdoors. We recommend balancing group and action shots with shots that hero the landscape.
